The Plaza, Fifth Avenue – from $375 per person
Fabulous chandeliers, carved archways, and superb lighting characterize The Plaza Fifth Avenue’s wedding venues. There are two options for your special day: the Grand Ballroom, which is 4800 square feet and boasts a reception capacity of 600 guests, or the Terrace Room, with 4680 square feet and a capacity of 500 for wedding receptions. The Terrace Room is named for its elegantly terraced perimeter beneath elaborately painted arches. The ceiling is covered with artwork influenced by the Italian Renaissance, originally painted in 1921 but recently restored. This 1893 building was designed by well-known New York architect Standford White, whose other credits include the Washington Square Arch, the Tiffany Building, and the New York Public Library. The Capitale, Bowery was originally built as the Bowery Savings Bank. Inside this landmark of luxury, you’ll find embellished arched ceilings, towering Corinthian columns, and an art glass skylight. The Grand Ballroom at the Capitale is a gigantic 15,000 square feet, providing space for over 700 guests at a sit-down reception or 1,500 at a cocktail affair. Upstairs, smaller rooms of around 2,000 square feet each are also available to rent.
